Reflection: Carol Cribbet-Bell

I was attracted to this writing workshop because of the theme of "place." I wanted to become more involved with my new neighborhood and understand the history and essence of this place. This writing workshop allowed me the opportunity to do exactly that. There were so many varied views of San Pedro among the five of us participating that I felt empowered by the shared impressions. I enjoyed "borrowing" from other group member's writing. Although as a librarian this concept was difficullt at first as I felt very plagiaristic. However, each time I used someone else's beautiful language or was given an idea or phrase, I felt that my writing was enriched. I feel we could have used more time together and that the next writing workshop should be advertised for more sessions.

Biographical Note: Carol has been a teacher/librarian within TUSD for over twenty years. She is currently the librarian at Carillo Magnet School. She has two grown sons. She and her husband have lived in Tucson since 1970 and in the Ft. Lowell neighborhood for one year.
